Raspberry Pi OS and Ansible installation
ipsonic-probe runs on Raspberry Pi OS (formerly Raspbian), as well as Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, and Rocky Linux, provided the distribution supplies Python 3, Requests and PyYAML. Raspberry Pi OS is Debian-based; the commands are the same on supported 32-bit and 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS installations. Package availability depends on the OS release and configured repositories.
Manual installation on Raspberry Pi OS
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y python3 python3-requests python3-yaml ca-certificates
python3 -c 'import requests, yaml; print("runtime OK")'
python3 ipsonic-probe.py --help
Only official Raspberry Pi OS/Debian repositories or approved internal APT mirrors are needed. No pip, PyPI, virtualenv, Docker, npm, or third-party package source. For isolated hosts, use a populated internal APT mirror or an approved offline .deb package set with all dependencies.
Raspberry Pi operational notes
- The probe runs on ARM platforms with the Python 3, Requests and PyYAML packages provided by Raspberry Pi OS.
- Run it from a Raspberry Pi on the same network as the monitored services, or from a dedicated monitoring VLAN.
- Check connectivity to the target URLs, DNS servers, and proxy before configuring periodic execution.
- For host provisioning with Ansible, see ANSIBLE-INSTALLATION.md. Ansible is optional and not installed on the probe host.
